Welcome
The Baha'is of Southwark belong to a multi-racial community with members from various different backgrounds, supporting the philosophy of unity in diversity. The Baha'i Faith involves itself in building a greater sense of community within the borough by providing children's classes, study circles and devotionals.
Founded 160 years ago in Persia, the Baha'i Faith is the world's second most widespread religion. The founder of the Faith, Baha'u'llah, declared himself to be the most recent in a series of messengers including Buddha, Moses, Christ, Mohammad and Zoroaster. This doctrine is known as progressive revelation; the truth of God is revealed progressively and periodically through a succession of divine messengers. The Baha'i Faith promulgates the principles of world peace, unity of mankind, gender equality, universal education, harmony of science and religion, the independent investigation of truth, the elimination of extremes of wealth and poverty, and the eradication of all forms of prejudice. |
